If we carry purism to it’s logical conclusion, to do it right {fishing} you’d have to live naked in a cave, hit your trout on the head with rocks, and eat them raw. But, so as not to violate another essential element of the fly-fishing tradition, the rocks would have to be quarried in England and cost $300 each.

The man who goes fishing gets something more than the fish he catches.
Perhaps the time has come to formulate a moral code which would govern our relations with the great creatures of the sea as well as with those on dry land. That this will come to pass is my dear wish.
I long for a kind of quiet where I can just drift and dream. I always say getting inspiration is like fishing. If you’re quiet and sitting there and you have the right bait, you’re going to catch a fish eventually. Ideas are sort of like that. You never know when they’re going to hit you.
A man may fish with the worm that hath eat of a king, and eat of the fish that hath fed of that worm

I didn’t want to miss that opportunity to be able to enjoy an afternoon fishing with my dad which is something we had done growing up a ton of times on Lake Michigan and it was funny that it kind of turned into an attention thing than I expected and even more than if I would have gone to the draft.
If all the theories were correct, there wouldn’t be a fish left in all of our lakes and rivers and streams.
Hell, if I’d jumped on all the dames I’m supposed to have jumped on, I’d have had no time to go fishing.

Consider the willful scorching of the earth, over-fishing, wasteful hunting, excessive and dangerous recycling of resources, and other similar “injustices” against the ways of nature share in the responsibility for this ecological spiraling down.
For at least the last 275 years the honesty of fishermen has been somewhat questionable. It should be noted that Izaak Walton whose book published in 1653 spoke not of anglers and , but anglers OR very honest men .
Fish stimulates the brain, but fishing stimulates the imagination.
A man … needs to get out in the open air and sweat and blow off the stink.
