No offence to Nicki Minaj, but her career has essentially been a Lil’ Kim tribute

I don’t compare myself to Lil Kim. I’m not doing anything in comparison with any girls. I’m doing Nicki Minaj.

People like rumors. They’re going to say things like, ‘You was at the club with Lil’ Kim, and you and Kanye West got into a fist fight.’ You can’t get upset. You’ve got to keep hope alive.

Lil’ Kim is my stage name and a character I use when I’m out working my livelihood.

I was excited to play Lil’ Kim and I wanted to do the role justice. I worked really hard on that role, whether it was performing the rhymes, studying the dialect, her swagger and her stage performances. I wanted people to see my range and stretch my wings as an actress.

Personally, I don’t do certain things. I read articles and they’ll pit me against Lil’ Kim like I’m going to smash them down. I never said any of that; I never said I didn’t like Kim or Foxy [Brown].
